
- The KAT now allows the analysis to succeed if no phonological process applies to a target expression case (for example, /dr/ becomes /pfr/). Previously, an error message would be given. The target expression cases in question are now listed before you download the analysis.
- The KAT can analyze multiple processes on a single sound. For example, for **sock** pronounced **cook**. _/s-/ > /k-/_ here three processes are identified, namely **assimilation, stopping and backing**.
- Some graphs are improved when multiple children are compared. _Developmental processes_ in that case are also called _Occurring processes_. Similarly for sounds and clusters graphs.

- **Assimilation**: You can now mark when assimilation has occurred by placing a **+** sign after the sound where assimilation occurs. This is because the KAT cannot always determine for itself when assimilation has occurred without additional context. See <ELearningLinkAssimilation /> for more information.
- **Alphabetical Order for Sounds**: The sounds in the 'words' tab are now ordered alphabetically instead of the acquisition order of Mieke Beers. The other tabs still use the acquisition order of Mieke Beers.
- **Login Problems Solved**: Several login problems have been solved.



If you've been using the KAT longer you will have already noticed: The website has changed! Don't be alarmed - everything still works as you're used to. We've given the KAT a visual makeover - and modernized a lot in the background - so it feels better to use.

The first part is visual. We updated the color scheme and added a logo so you can easily recognize the KAT. Many pages have been reorganized so they are more organized, with the critical information at the top. As part of this, we also made sure the pages work on smaller screens - so you can use the KAT on a tablet, too.

Furthermore, we did a lot to make the KAT feel better, and to make everything just a little bit easier. Often these are small things - you can press 'Enter' when logging in, and pages load just a bit faster. When processing analyses, error messages are listed with the file they belong to, and you can also download previous analyses you did this session.

Some of the changes are preparation for the new features we are currently working on - so look out for those. Until then, we hope you like the new website. We encourage the use of KAT in the final year of speech therapy programs, allowing students to become familiar with innovative tools used in the field.

Educational institutions can also initiate student projects around KAT or other ITSLanguage technologies, focusing on learning objectives such as innovation and practice-based work.

An analysis is available as an Excel file. The information is divided across multiple worksheets and is mainly presented in tables and charts. The analysis includes data about consonant and cluster correctness, PCC and PCCR, and phonological processes.



KAT does not provide advice. It is intended to provide an analysis based on the entered data, but it does not give specific recommendations about treatment and/or diagnosis.
